Let’s Talk Probiotics with a Nutrition & Wellness Consultant

We sat down with Jenna Stern, a Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, to discuss how important probiotics are to your health.

What is your professional background in nutrition?

I am a Nutrition and Wellness Consultant, certified by American Fitness Professionals & Associates. I like to refer to  myself as a nutritional guide for people who don’t have a great concept of nutrition, no idea about balance, or even problems with binge eating. My goal is to take someone out of diet dependency and into food freedom.

What got you into health and wellness?

I grew up in a Jewish family where food was a big part of my life. I was on the chubbier side, surrounded by tiny friends, binge eating junk food. I started dieting when I was 12, which sounds crazy . At 16 I started spin class before it was a super popular form of fitness for young people. All I wanted was a regimen to follow at the gym, and I was eventually introduced to food planning and prepping. There came a time when I realized wellness is not about an end goal, it’s a real lifestyle.

Where did you hear about probiotics and how long have you been using them?

My job requires continuous research and figuring out what I'm doing versus what I’m not doing. When I was in my early 20’s I started getting chronic yeast infections. Between being sexually active and living in sweaty clothes from my fitness routines, I needed to find a solution. I started taking probiotics for my feminine health, and realized how much it was helping my stomach, too. I started feeling less bloated after taking a probiotic everyday.

How do you think probiotics relate to nutrition specifically?

Digestion and nutrition really go hand in hand, so probiotics are super important. At first I was really nervous about figuring out what exactly to take because I didn’t want to spend too much money or have negative health effects. Once you’re lead in the right direction, it really helps a lot.

How has your experience been with BINTO’s probiotic?

The BINTO probiotic doesn’t upset my stomach and I’m glad its shelf stable. I'm always afraid of wasting  money for something to spoil, so that was definitely a plus.Plus, the subscription really takes the guessing out of it!
