The medicine cabinet takes on a whole new personality in all of our homes. For some, it's exactly as its advertised, suspended above the bathroom sink. For others, a pile of makeup palates on your nightstand, or bottles of supplements in your kitchen cabinet, maybe even tinted moisturizers that have found a home in the console of your car.

The Medicine Cabinet Series was created to give you a unique look at the everyday lives of a diverse group of women from around the country. Dive in for a candid approach to wellness unlike any other.

BINTO: What does your wellness routine consist of?

Denise: I'm definitely not a morning person, so I do most of my routine at night! When I wake up I always wash my face with cold water and apply some moisturizer because my skin tends to dry out. I also find that my makeup goes on way easier when I moisturize and let it sit for a bit before putting on foundation or anything. Most days I wear concealer, mascara, and maybe eyeliner, since I hate the feeling of clogged pores with any type of heavy foundation. I generally shower in the evening, and I absolutely always moisturize with coconut oil afterwards. Lotion works well enough, but I've found that coconut oil makes my skin feel so much softer without any of the additives that you'll find in even 'unscented' lotions.

BINTO: What product can’t you live without?

Denise: Coconut oil! It's a must have. I'm also a huge fan of oregano oil, which sounds weird, but it's actually the strongest herb and I've found it works wonders if I'm coming down with a cold, or if I'm already sick. I'll take it in pill form as an immunity booster, too.

BINTO: What’s your definition of wellness?

Denise:  I like to take a holistic approach to the term. Wellness not only includes your physical well-being, but your mental and emotional health. We like to separate these spheres a lot, but I think they have a lot more to do with each other than we might think.

BINTO: Have you ever discussed supplements with a health professional or do you tend to Google things?

Denise: I haven't had more than a standard "you might consider taking iron supplements" conversation with my doctor, so I 'supplement' (hah!) their advice with what I discover on my own and through others. I definitely believe in going to see a health professional and taking medicine or antibiotics when you really need to, but I also think that Western medicine tends to overemphasize the importance of just answering to doctors who might be overprescribing medication. So, I like to add preventative measures in my own wellness routine so I don't end up on three rounds of antibiotics for a simple UTI.

BINTO: Have you seen your wellness routine evolve over the years?

Denise: I definitely have. When I was younger, I was very into branding and would purchase products based on what sounded or looked best on the bottle. I have changed my habits since then by, literally, using coconut oil from the grocery store, or sometimes even making my own scrubs. I'm trying to take a more natural route in my wellness routine.

BINTO: Have you tried our supplements?

Denise: I haven't tried BINTO yet, but I'm interested in your whole customization process, for sure. I don't even know where to begin with picking the right supplements for me.

BINTO: Have you ever made any wellness mistakes you've had to learn from?

Denise: I have really sensitive skin, and I noticed that I would break out much more when I used products based on their brand name instead of the ingredients. I definitely see improvement since switching to a more natural path.
