Menopause Blues: Managing Your Mood

Menopause Blues: Managing Your Mood

Menopause can be a roller coaster ride of emotions. Between fluctuating hormones and changes in body image or sex drive, women can find themselves feeling irritable or sad. Determining the severity of your menopause blues and the possible causes can help when it comes to treating your symptoms. Moodiness no more!

Is it clinical depression?

Major depression, also known as clinical depression, is believed to result from a chemical imbalance in the brain (1). Ask yourself: am I sad more often than not? Has this been going on for an extended period of time? If you answered yes to both of these, and it has been going on for well over a year, you should contact a mental health professional for treatment.

Your Hormones & Your Mood

Perimenopause, or the transitional period into menopause, is when your hormones may feel the most out of whack. Several years before menopause, usually in your 30s or 40s, estrogen levels begin dropping rapidly, and this can cause mood swings (2). For you ladies out there who have had a history of severe PMS symptoms, this perimenopausal period may not be an easy one for you.

Easing the Blues

Low dose oral contraceptives may help with mood swings by balancing hormones, but double check with your doctor if it is okay to take them at this time.

Compartmentalize – fight stress and anxiety by taking one task at a time and setting a few priorities.

Try doing the things you love, they will distract you from your current woes. Plus, physical activity is a great stress reliever

How Binto Can Help

We don’t want you to suffer through mood swings- your quality of life is important. Our menopause products may bring some much needed relief.

What’s in them?

Vitamin B6 plays a role in the function of some neurotransmitters associated with mood. The less B6 we have, the more irritable and anxious we are. B6 is a must!

Magnesium is great for stress relief. We’d all love to talk a nice Epsom salt bath, but our supplements offer the same relief if you don’t have time to luxuriate.

Astragalus Root helps lower the stress hormone, cortisol.

Cocoa Seed Extract: raw cocoa has been proven to relieve emotional stress while lowering blood pressure.

At Binto, we’re not one-dimensional. Our little menopause supplements contain calcium for bone strength, blueberry fruit extract and the non-estrogenic black cohosh standardized extract for hot flashes.
